Co-author of Navigating the Intercultural Classroom (TESOL Press & NAFSA, 2019). An ESOL instructor since 1997, Tuula currently teaches workplace communication skills courses at Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and in a career bridging program at College Boreal Toronto campus. She is also a LINC Home Study Canada instructor. She is one of the learning consultants who created in collaboration with the Touchstone Institute the Ontario based intercultural curriculum framework 360° View of Communicative Competence at Work https://360communication.ca/. Tuula also worked for Deloitte US in India for 3 years as Senior Manager of the global firm’s Communication Excellence program to create new training programs on language and communication globally. Workshop Title: "Culture as Knowledge and Classroom Practices" Exploring how ESOL teachers can develop intercultural teaching practices that allow us to integrate language learning with the teaching of intercultural knowledge and competencies in our classrooms. |
